Falcom went full noir and the soundtrack followed. Kuro no Kiseki's 2022 PS4 OST drops the bright adventuring tone of earlier Trails games for something moodier, grittier, and drenched in back-alley atmosphere. "Dark Stalker" creeps along with this low tension that fits a protagonist who runs a gray-market detective office.

"Rise of the Grendel" explodes into this aggressive battle theme that sounds like modern Falcom finally let loose on proper PS4 hardware. Then "Melt in the Darkness" pulls you into genuine unease. The town themes still have warmth though.
