"Proton Decay" by Norrin Radd has this driving bassline that could've been on a Castlevania cart and nobody would question it. "Not Mega..." from virt is a love letter to Capcom that winks without being obnoxious about it.
Freaky DNA's "Karaage" goes in a funkier direction that keeps the whole soundtrack from feeling one-note. Every track pushes the NES sound chip to its limits. If you miss the days when game music had to fight for every frequency, this is a full album of exactly that.
