The Official Vigilante 8 70's Funk Soundtrack

1998 · Playstation

Pure 70s wah-pedal funk pouring out of a PS1 vehicular combat game. Vigilante 8's soundtrack goes so hard it genuinely doesn't need a game attached to it. "Spineless Funk" has this bass groove that sounds like it crawled out of a blaxploitation film and never looked back.

"Vigilante Shuffle" layers in horns over a breakbeat that just locks you in. And then "Boogie" hits with this slippery guitar lick that honestly makes blowing up cars feel cinematic. Every character theme has its own flavor too.

The whole thing feels like a lost compilation album from 1974 that somebody smuggled onto a disc. If you ever played twisted metal but wanted better vibes, this is your answer.
