Valkyria Chronicles Original Sound Track

2008 · Playstation 3

Hitoshi Sakimoto wrote a full wartime orchestra for Valkyria Chronicles and it hits like nothing else on PS3. The Main Theme has this brass swell that somehow feels both triumphant and heartbroken at the same time. Beautiful Gallia shifts into pastoral woodwinds that make you forget there's a war happening, then Gallant Fight snaps you right back with these urgent strings layered over military snare rolls.

The way Daily Life of the 7th Platoon uses accordion to build warmth between missions. And then Farewell and Tears just dismantles you. Sakimoto matched the watercolor art style with music that feels painted on. If you played this game and skipped the soundtrack, go back immediately.
