Motoi Sakuraba somehow squeezed full-scale Valkyrie Profile drama out of DS speakers and it works. Covenant of the Plume carries that signature frantic prog energy he's known for, but compressed into the handheld's sound chip it takes on this slightly raw, urgent quality.

"Epic Poem to Sacred Death" returns from the original with an arrangement that still hits hard. "Distortions in the Bottom of Hell" is pure tension, all dissonant runs and aggressive pacing. Then "A Fragment of the Heart" pulls everything back into something genuinely sad.
The track titles alone tell you how heavy this one gets. Anyone who loved the original VP soundtrack but skipped the DS entry is missing Sakuraba at his most relentless.
