Yoko Kanno scoring a monster-taming action RPG is exactly as wild as it sounds. Volzerk's soundtrack has her fingerprints all over it, from orchestral bombast to intimate acoustic moments that have no business being this pretty in a mobile game.

"Trace My Fears" featuring chelly hits with that signature Kanno vocal production, lush and cinematic. "Leaf Flute Afternoon" and "Trees Whispers" bring this pastoral warmth that feels like Studio Ghibli wandered into a gacha.
Then "Fierce Black" just goes full combat intensity. Twenty tracks covering everything from gentle world exploration to boss fights. The game shut down in 2024 but the music survived. If you follow Kanno's work across Cowboy Bebop and Macross, hearing her tackle fantasy RPG territory is something else entirely.
