WILD ARMS Original Game Soundtrack

1999 · Playstation

That whistled opening in "To the End of the Wilderness" is one of the most recognizable intros on PS1. Michiko Naruke built Wild Arms around this lonesome western vibe that no other JRPG even attempted in 1996. "Migratory Bird of the Wilderness (Rudy's Theme)" carries this weight of wandering that sticks with you, and "Lamentation and a Promise" is the kind of quiet devastation that hits harder because it's coming from PS1 hardware.

Then the ending theme "Oath to the Blue Sky" just opens everything up. The whole score lives in this space between dusty frontier sadness and stubborn hope. If you grew up on this one, go back and really listen to it again.
