Yuki Kajiura took over composing duties for Xenosaga II and turned the whole thing into a cinematic fever dream. The PS2 hardware limitations barely matter when the arrangements are this dense and emotional. "fatal fight (Jin & Margulis)" builds tension with layered strings and percussion that feel way too intense for a cutscene soundtrack.

The two versions of "Sakura" are devastating, the piano version especially. "Albedo" keeps that unsettling energy the character demands, all dissonance and creeping dread. Kajiura's signature vocal layering shows up throughout and it just works.
