"Strawberry Crisis!!" alone justifies this entire collection. Akyu's Untouched Score vol.4 gathers ZUN's Touhou 3 soundtrack from the PC-98, and Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream has some of his wildest early compositions. "Tabula rasa ~ The Empty Girl" builds from this eerie quiet into a full FM synth assault that just keeps escalating.

"Reincarnation" carries a melodic complexity that feels way ahead of where PC-98 games usually sat. And then "Maniacal Princess" lives up to its name with frantic energy that barely lets you breathe. The dream motifs running through the whole tracklist.
There's a cohesion here that shows ZUN was thinking about albums, not just stage themes. Touhou fans who skip the PC-98 era are missing where this all clicked into place.
