Falcom Sound Team jdk took the Ys sound and dropped it into a gothic prison city and the tonal shift is incredible. Ys IX: Monstrum Nox trades tropical islands for cobblestone and iron bars and the music follows. "Cloaca Maxima" is pure adrenaline, layered synth rock that hits different when you're sprinting through underground sewers.

"Monstrum Spectrum" has this almost eerie quality woven into its rhythm that makes every Grimwald Nox encounter feel unpredictable. "Bar Dandelion" just. Lets you breathe for a minute. Warm and intimate after hours of intensity.
The whole soundtrack leans darker and moodier than previous Ys entries without losing that signature Falcom drive. If you loved Ys VIII but wanted something with more edge, Monstrum Nox delivers.
