Ys: The Oath in Felghana Original Soundtrack +

2021 · PC-88, PSP, Windows

This is the definitive version of the Felghana soundtrack and it spans three entire hardware generations. Ys: The Oath in Felghana OST+ from Falcom Sound Team jdk includes the original PC-88 chip versions alongside the PSP and Windows arrangements, and hearing them back to back is absurd.

"A Searing Struggle" on PC-88 is all aggressive FM synth energy, then the Windows version explodes into full rock band production. "Sealed Time" carries this haunting, cathedral-like reverb in the modern mix that the original could only hint at.

The PC-88 "Illburns Ruins" though. Still goes hard with nothing but square waves and attitude. If you want to hear how Falcom's sound evolved across three decades of the same game, this collection is it.
