Gareth Coker's score for ARK: Survival Evolved takes the ambitious premise of humans waking up stranded among dinosaurs and gives it the sweeping orchestral treatment it deserves. The Main Theme immediately sets the tone with a sense of primal wonder and lurking danger, while exploration tracks like "The Southern Islets" and "Shores and Stars" paint the island as both beautiful and threatening.

Coker balances moments of peaceful discovery with the constant undercurrent that something with very large teeth is probably nearby. The boss battle tracks are absolute standouts. "The Megapithecus," "The Broodmother," and "The Dragon" each bring their own distinct flavor of intensity, with massive percussion and aggressive orchestral swells that match the scale of fighting creatures the size of buildings.
"The TEK Cave & Hall of History" pivots into something more mysterious and sci-fi inflected, hinting at the deeper lore beneath ARK's survival gameplay. The progression from "The Overseer" into "Ascension" delivers a genuinely cinematic payoff.
What really holds this soundtrack together is how well it captures the biome diversity of the island. "Writhing Swamps" feels oppressively humid and dangerous, "Snowbound" and "Snow Thy Enemy" bring a biting chill, and "In Deep Water" conveys that particular dread of not knowing what is swimming beneath you.
Gareth Coker proved with Ori that he could write gorgeous music, and here he proves he can write music that makes you feel genuinely small.
