Half-Life 2: Episode One Soundtrack

2014 · Linux, MacOS, Windows

Kelly Bailey picking up right where Half-Life 2 left off, except now the Citadel is collapsing and everything sounds like it. Episode One's 2006 soundtrack carries that same industrial grit and synthesized tension that defined the series.

"Disrupted Original" opens with a broken version of familiar motifs, like the music itself survived the explosion. "Self Destruction" is relentless, layered percussion and distorted synths pushing you forward through a crumbling building.

"Eine Kleiner Elevatormuzik" is Bailey at his most darkly funny. Elevator music. While everything burns. "What Kind Of Hospital Is This" asks the question every player was screaming during that pitch-black zombie section.

"Penultimatum" closes things out with the weight of knowing Episode Two is next. If you played the Half-Life 2 episodes back to back and the music all blurred together, pull this one out separately. It earned that.
