"A Parade of the Dead" builds with militaristic percussion that slowly curdles into something deeply wrong, zombified and lurching. And "Defend Our Way Home" finally lets the brass swell into something almost heroic, except it's desperate, backed-against-the-wall heroic with no guarantee of survival.
The whole score lives in that survival horror space between fragile hope and total collapse. Even if you bounced off the gameplay entirely, the soundtrack deserves a serious second look from anyone who likes their Metal Gear bleak.
