Neural Gear Original Soundtracks

2008 · X68000

X68000 FM synthesis going absolutely feral here. Neural Gear's OPM chip output hits with this aggressive, bright energy that most Sharp hardware games never bothered to push for. "SYSTEMATIC EYES" has these layered FM leads that stack up into something genuinely complex, and "SUPER SONIC" rips through tempo changes like it's showing off on purpose.

The MT-32 versions included on this release give everything a rounder, more MIDI-polished sound but honestly the OPM cuts have more bite. "DEPLETION" slows things down into this moody crawl that just sits with you. If you're into late-80s Japanese computer music and haven't dug into X68000 soundtracks yet, start right here.
