10 Best Cheap Wii Games

The Wii sold to everybody, and so did its biggest games. Nintendo's hits ran into the tens of millions of copies, which means secondhand shelves are still full of them. A few Wii games did get pricey: a loose Rhythm Heaven Fever now sells for over $100, and Metroid Prime Trilogy is not far behind. We checked recent sold prices for loose discs and kept only the games that go for a typical price under $25.

That still leaves a Smash Bros., an RPG often called one of the best games ever made, two Mario platformers and a Paper Mario. Here are the 10 best cheap Wii games.

10. Rodea the Sky Soldier (2015)

Rodea the Sky Soldier is a game about flying, and how it plays depends on which version you buy. Kadokawa ported it to the Wii U and 3DS, and there you point a reticle with the joystick or control pad and press A to launch Rodea toward that point. Cubed3's Albert Lichi gave the Wii version 7/10 and its Bronze Award. Destructoid's Chris Carter said the game "really hits that sweet spot when it comes to evoking the wonder of flight", though the troubled development shows in the final build.

Loose Wii discs sold for a typical $20 between December 2024 and May 2026, and not many change hands. Players bring it up as a pick beyond the big Nintendo names. One review put it simply: "When it comes to unique gameplay and classic Yuji Naka charm the title truly soars."

9. Kirby's Return to Dream Land (2011)

Kirby's Return to Dream Land took 11 years to make. Work on a new Kirby started on the GameCube after Kirby 64, and three different versions were built and scrapped along the way. One was shown at E3 in 2005, then canceled because it did not meet HAL Laboratory's quality standards. Shinya Kumazaki, who had directed Kirby Super Star Ultra, took over the Wii project in early 2010, and the game finally reached North America on October 24, 2011. Friends can stack up in a totem carried by whoever is at the bottom, an idea saved from the 2005 version.

Loose discs sold for a typical $20 between June and September 2026. Critics praised it as a return to form for the traditional Kirby games and knocked it for its low difficulty. Players often name it next to the Wii's party games and family picks.

8. Klonoa (2008)

Klonoa is a remake of Namco's 1997 PlayStation game Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, rebuilt with fully 3D graphics and extra content. It is still a side-scrolling platformer. Klonoa carries inflated enemies around, and you can throw them or launch off them for an extra jump in mid-air. Hideo Yoshizawa, who directed the original, produced it and brought back former team members. The Western release dropped the Door to Phantomile subtitle and added a whirlwind attack that uses the Wii Remote's motion.

It reviewed well, and some critics called it one of the best titles on the Wii. It also flopped, and Bandai Namco dropped its planned revival of the series. Loose discs sold for a typical $20 in 2024. Players keep it on their lists of Wii games worth tracking down, often next to bigger names.

7. Metroid: Other M (2010)

Series creator Yoshio Sakamoto took Other M to Team Ninja, and the animation studio D-Rockets made its cutscenes. You play from a third-person view using only the Wii Remote, exploring and fighting. Melee attacks only work once an enemy's health is low. The team kept the controls simple to appeal to modern players and put the weight on plot and characters, with lots of cinematics and voice acting. The music has a sweet backstory. Sakamoto kept calling parts of it "wrong" until it became a simpler melody that brought him to tears.

Loose discs sold for a typical $11 in 2025, the second-cheapest game here. Critics liked the cutscenes and the action, but critics and fans both criticized its story. Sales were disappointing for a flagship Nintendo series, and no new main Metroid came until Metroid Dread in 2021. Come for the action and you will get your money's worth.

6. Wii Play (2006)

Wii Play started as prototype games shown at E3 2006, made by Nintendo EAD at the same time as Wii Sports. Critics called it repetitive. It sold anyway, largely because it came with an extra Wii Remote, and it became the fifth best-selling Wii game with 28.02 million copies. The best part is Tanks, which two people can play together. If both players lose their tank in the same mission, the game ends, and only the first 20 missions are open in multiplayer.

All those copies make it the cheapest game on this list. Loose discs sold for a typical $6 in summer 2025, so the game now costs about as much as the batteries for the remote it used to come with. Players say it is "actually really fun especially with friends".

5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008)

Brawl was the first Smash Bros. not made mainly by HAL Laboratory. Sora Ltd. developed it with a team that included members from several Nintendo and third-party studios, and Masahiro Sakurai came back to direct at Iwata's request. Work began in October 2005, and after delays it reached North America on March 9, 2008. It was the first game in the series with playable third-party characters, and it has stages from other companies' games, like the Metal Gear Solid inspired Shadow Moses Island. It also added Stage Builder and a story mode that plays as a side-scrolling beat 'em up with computer-generated cutscenes.

With over thirteen million copies sold, it is an easy game to find. Loose discs sold for a typical $15 in April 2026. Players put it on their must-have lists for anyone setting up a Wii.

4. Xenoblade Chronicles (2010)

Xenoblade Chronicles began with a model. In June 2006, executive director and lead writer Tetsuya Takahashi built two giant titans frozen in place, with people living on their bodies, and that became the world of the game. It came out in Japan in 2010 and in PAL regions in 2011. North America had no confirmed release until December 2011, after a fan campaign called Operation Rainfall drew attention to the game, and it arrived there in 2012.

Critics hailed it as one of the best recent role-playing games, with a story they called innovative and surprisingly complex. It has since been considered one of the best video games of all time. Loose discs sold for a typical $18 between November 2025 and July 2026. Ask players for a big single-player Wii game and this is the one they tend to name.

3. Super Paper Mario (2007)

Super Paper Mario was the third Paper Mario and the first Mario game on the Wii. The earlier games had turn-based fights. This one mixes RPG elements with a side-scrolling platformer, and Mario can flip between 2D and 3D. Only he can flip. Luigi jumps the highest, and Bowser breathes fire on enemies. One warning from Nintendo of Europe: talk to Mimi in chapter 2-2 before picking up a key, and the game freezes and sends you back to your last save.

It won Outstanding Role Playing Game at the 12th Satellite Awards and sold over 4.23 million copies, the most of any Paper Mario. Loose discs sold for a typical $14 in summer 2026. Players tend to name it in the same breath as the Galaxy games.

2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (2009)

New Super Mario Bros. Wii was the first Super Mario game with simultaneous co-op. Up to four people play through levels together as Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad and Blue Toad. Miyamoto wanted a follow-up to New Super Mario Bros. that could be a staple game for the Wii, and Nintendo announced it after a slight drop in profits, hoping it would get Wii sales going again. Beginners got Super Guide and a bubble to float in, and there is an award for never letting the Super Guide block appear in any level.

It won Best Wii Game at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards and sold 30.32 million copies. Loose discs sold for a typical $22 in September 2026, the highest price on this list. Players treat it as the game to play together on one couch.

1. Super Mario Galaxy (2007)

Nintendo EAD Tokyo started Super Mario Galaxy after Donkey Kong Jungle Beat came out in late 2004, when Shigeru Miyamoto suggested a large-scale Mario game. Director Yoshiaki Koizumi wanted to use abilities from a technology demonstration shown at Nintendo Space World in 2000. Mahito Yokota and Koji Kondo wrote the soundtrack, the first time the series used a symphony orchestra. Collect all 120 Power Stars and you get to play as Luigi.

It was the highest-rated game of all time on GameRankings when the site closed in 2019, and it was the first Nintendo game to win the BAFTA Award for Best Game. It also sold 12.80 million copies, and a loose disc sold for a typical $15 in April 2026. Players recommend it more than any other Wii game.

Which one to play

There you have it, the whole list of the best cheap Wii games, every one under $25 for a loose disc. Most of them rank with the best games on the system at any price.

If you only buy one, make it Super Mario Galaxy. For a family night, New Super Mario Bros. Wii gets four people playing at once. RPG fans should start with Xenoblade Chronicles. Smash fans can grab Brawl for its story mode and Stage Builder. If you want a 2D platformer most people missed, play Klonoa. And if all you have is the price of a sandwich, Wii Play and its Tanks mode are waiting.
